Lendület Ecosystem Services Research Group
The destruction of biodiversity poses considerable threat to ecosystem services essential for human well-being. The aim of our research is to discover the ecological background of some important ecosystem services, to evaluate them in a European context, and to support the development of a sustainable habitat and land use at both international and national level. Our studies focus mainly on pollination, insect predation and soil decomposition in relation to local and landscape factors, including also the effects of invasive plant species. We plan to upscale our results to national and international level by making use of national databases and through international collaborations. Finally, based on the synthesis of different patterns of ecosystem services and interdisciplinary cooperations we aim to give comprehensive recommendations in the field of conservation biology.
